The body’s innate nature is to guard and protect damage or potential damage.  This its helpful when acute stress is present but becomes a hindrance when the acute threat is over.

is a manual therapy approach based on neural science and aims to convince and not force these guarded areas to release, improving target tissue health and biomechanical function

This innovative manual therapy approach that integrates both neuromuscular behaviours and functional biomechanics simultaneously.  This course provides clinicians with essential skills in gaining a discerning access into deeper protected tissues without coercive force.

This inspired approach has something for every clinician.  Learn more about functional biomechanics, neuromuscular behaviours, stabilisation concepts, breath mechanics as well as evidence informed unique progressive strategies to alter chronic and acute on chronic dysfunctions.

The course covers:

  • Background to Neuromuscular guarding

  • Neuro scientific evidence:

    • local,

    • regional,

    • central

  • Integration of

    •     neural science

    •     manual therapy

    •     neuro-cognitive

  • Breathing mechanics and its importance in function and treatment

  • Functional biomechanics

    •     purpose

    •     benchmarks

    •     purpose in manual therapy

    •     requirements in manual therapy

  • Heuristics

  • Integrating biomechanics and neuromuscular retraining

  • practical implementation of techniques

  • Implementing practical elements to various areas and with various presentations

We aim to provide an insight into the biomechanical assessment and treatment of neuromuscular guarding patterns whilst offering the opportunity to integrate it with a number of popular modalities such as:

  • Muscle Energy Technique (MET)

  • Joint Articulation

  • Joint Manipulation

  • Myofascial Release

  • Cranio Sacral Therapy

One Health Training has been conceived from a passion to inspire, innovate & integrate health care practices.

Matt Hempsell and Mike Foy both qualified for their fields of Osteopathy and Physiotherapy, off the scenic shores of Australia, in the UK and Canada respectively.  Between them they offer 37 years of clinical experience and training and have practiced, and separately owned and operated, multi-disciplinary rehab clinics throughout their careers.

Coming from two very different backgrounds and yet reaching many of the same conclusions, showed them the beautiful harmony that exists in combining concepts, ideas and models of care between the disciplines.   This opportunity has inspired them to collaborate and innovate a more integrated approach to teaching.  Their immediate vision is to combine the best there is to offer of the many separate disciplines and integrate them into a more comprehensive and, quite honestly, more fun and engaging synergistic whole.

Both Matt and Mike have pursued learning in areas including myofascial release, cranio-sacral, strain-counterstrain, MET, advanced joint mobilisation and manipulation, neurodynamics, spinal and peripheral stabilization concepts and care, functional biomechanics, mechano-biology and neuromuscular concepts.

They operate together with a dedicated team at ONE HEALTH - Health Centre in Port Macquarie NSW Australia, which has a vision to develop Health Centres that provide excellence in unified health-care, reflecting our core values of hope, passion, and education.  These same values are reflected in One Health Training.

To see members of the manual therapy professional community renewed in their individual passion to innovate, educate and therapeutically respond to the amazing creation we call the human body.

  • inspire

  • integrate

..health care practices so that we can honour the clients whom trust us with their pain, their struggling tissues and their need to understand the various and ever changing realities of their conditions

What is Inspiration?

Inspiration is defined as: the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.  We want to inspire you, the professional in order to inspire your clients and clinical practice

What is Integration?

Integration is to give cause to give equal opportunity and consideration to.  We have come from and have experience in a variety of different manual therapy approaches which utilise a wide variety of highly effective techniques.  We want to integrate these professional experiences and techniques to bring to you, and our clients a more effective and versatile approach to improving their musculoskeletal health.

What is Innovation?

Innovation means to make changes, by introducing new methods, ideas, or products.  We want to be innovative in our approach to manual health care.  With our experiences and various training, we want to investigate and push the boundaries of health care and put into practice innovative ideas which can enhance existing techniques and approaches.

We do this by developing quality courses and workshops to encourage other clinicians of all disciplines to see the synergistic gold in all the different approaches to manual therapy and assessment.

What we do to provide you with the best possible learning experience:

  • Passionate trainers with utmost enthusiasm for their professions and caring for their clients, with the drive to inspire everyone in all aspects of health care.

We have developed and continue to development a number of practical based manual therapy courses from a combined Osteopathic and Physiotherapy perspective directed to a wide variety of  manual therapy medical professionals.  These include:

  • Osteopaths and Osteopathy students*

  • Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy students*

  • Chiropractors and Chiropractic students*

  • Myotherapists & Myotherapy students*

  • Medical Doctors & Medical students*

  • Sports / Remedial massage therapists

*Student directed workshops and courses are developed to provide skills that are in conjunction with relevant current university course content and Australian national law

**Should new developments take place and we change our course content accordingly after you have attended one of our courses, we will send you any information on these changes to keep you fully updated
